Every time MotoGP has visited the Red Bull Ring track in Austria, the issue of safety has been addressed. Recently, the straight that follows turn one was redesigned with the implementation of a chicane that aims to slow down the approach to the former turn three. This was after Johann Zarco and Franco Morbidelli had an accident in 2020 that could have resulted in terrible news for some of the riders present at the race itself.

Asked if the created chicane turned out to be the best option, Brad Binder believes that this change in track design aims to increase safety for those competing in prototype racing.

'The number one priority is safety. Of course there will be a big kill in speed, I haven't looked at the chicane very well yet, but the guys who made the changes know exactly what they are doing. It will certainly be the best for all of us,' he replied in debrief.
