A buzz about drugs, an e-cigarette and Rs 12,000 recovered from the school bag of a Class-11 student at Podar International School in Chandkheda had fellow students and parents worried.  The school however clarified that only Rs 12,000 was found in the student’s bag. The District Education Officer (DEO) Bharat Vadher swung into action after being apprised of the situation and sent a team to investigate. Following a probe, both the Principal and DEO said the student was only carrying Rs 12,000 in his bag and he had mistakenly carried it.  “During a routine check of bags for mobile phones on October 13, we found Rs 12,000 in a student’s bag,” Principal Sreenarayanan PC told Mirror.  The Class 11 student explained that the money was in the bag as he had forgotten to give it to his parents. The parents too reiterated that they were to take the cash from the child but forgot. Hence no further action was taken. Vadher said his team too did not find any evidence of e-cigarettes or that the money was meant to buy drugs.
